Topics include traditional comprehensive overview on copyright within the European Union, how materials can be (openly) licensed and practical aspects of licensing agreements, open licenses and digital rights. This workshop was designed by Junior IOT. Based in the Netherlands, Junior IOT is a foundation committed to bring younger generations closer to various topics of modern technology with workshops, competitions and engaging initiatives in school and non-school settings across the Netherlands. Junior IOT collaborated with the European Chips Skills Academy to bring their soldering workshop (and its expansions) to a wider European audience through the e-Learning platform.

In this workshop, participants create their very own light machine. Using a battery and LED lights, they build a circuit using soldering iron and tin. The heat of the soldering iron melts the soldering tin to connect two parts to make the lights turn on. The workshop provides participants with a basic understanding of how electricity works.

The material provided conveys:

• A "train the trainer" slide deck, providing guidelines for trainers on how to prepare and deliver the workshop;

• A slide deck with the actual workshop, divided into its different steps with tips and fun facts to make it even more engaging!

• Both decks provide all information needed to access the required equipment through Junior IOT website.

Beyond this basic version of the workshop, Junior IOT provides material and advanced guidelines to expand the light machine adding buttons, switches... and more! All references to such expansions are also included in the slide decks.

The circuit design challenge enables learners to compete with each other individually or in groups. A test system provides circuit design tasks created by teachers. Learners must then try to solve these tasks as good as possible. The better the learners perform, the better their score and the higher they appear in the high score list. This course gives an introduction to the challenge based learning system for learners by explaining how the system works and how to participate using an example.
