Through Andra’s eyes

For me, personally, the conversation I had with Suzanne was a dream come true. I hope you don’t mind me sharing a few personal thoughts. When the pandemic struck, I was about one year and a half away from finishing high school. During the lockdown, I spent much of my time reading autobiographies and watching countless interviews. Although I had already been preparing to attend a technical university, the idea of becoming a journalist began to take shape. I imagined myself conducting interviews with fascinating, intelligent people, who could share meaningful insights and inspire others.

After discussing it with my parents, I decided to pursue my passion for math and physics which led me to where I am today: in my final year of my bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Technologies and Systems at the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. My parents have always assured me of their support, even if I decide to change directions in the future. I’ve been fortunate to feel that I’m in the right place at the right time, but my dream of conducting interviews never faded.

I can hardly explain the joy and excitement I felt when this opportunity to interview Suzanne came up. It was a moment where I once again felt reassured that I was on the right path.

Throughout my life, I’ve been lucky to have a few mentors who significantly impacted my evolution. I found in Suzanne a model of courage and kindness, someone unafraid to step out of her comfort zone, knowing that progress only comes through challenge. She had the strength to reinvent herself each time it was needed, doing so with elegance and diplomacy, in a male-dominated field. I hope this interview inspires anyone searching for their professional path or those who might be hesitant to follow their heart and start something new from scratch.
