On September 27, ECSA held its first Student Ambassador Summit in person, hosted at IMEC in Leuven. This exciting event was made possible with the invaluable support of Student Ambassador and Master’s thesis researcher at IMEC, Vasil Yordanov.
Students from across Europe gathered in Leuven to dive into the world of semiconductors and explore the diverse career opportunities in this dynamic industry.
The day featured an agenda packed with engaging talks by three speakers, each offering unique perspectives on the semiconductor sector:
- Stefano Ramundo Orlando, Manager of Advocacy & Public Policy at SEMI Europe, set the scene with a comprehensive overview of the global semiconductor supply chain, shedding light on its complexities and the pivotal role geopolitics plays in shaping its balance.
- Michiel Jordens, Embedded Software Engineer at Micjo Consulting Bv, shared an eclectic view of his career journey, illustrating how a career in semiconductors can be not only highly stimulating but also incredibly diverse.
- Zahra Mohammadi, Environmental Scientist at JSR Micro, provided fascinating insights into European chemical regulations and their crucial role in the sector.
The event concluded with a special highlight: a tour of IMEC’s clean room, the largest in Europe. Vasil Yordanov guided the group through its features, sharing technical details and captivating anecdotes about the facility.
We were thrilled to meet some of our Student Ambassadors in person and strengthen the bonds of our growing community. We’re already looking forward to the next chapter in this exciting journey.
